Ramallah—July 1, 2026 – His Excellency Hussein Al Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, discussed with H.E. Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Special Assistant to the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, the mechanisms for Japan’s contribution to improving the humanitarian and living conditions of the people of the Gaza Strip, amid the ongoing tragic conditions and the Israeli aggression against our people.

The meeting took place on Wednesday in the presence of Mr. Yusuke Tabuchi, Political Advisor at the Representative Office of Japan to Palestine, and Mr. Ryuji Kida, Assistant to the Special Assistant to the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs, in addition to H.E. Dr. Majdi Al Khalidi, Diplomatic Advisor to Mr. President Abbas, and Mrs. Ayah AlMuhisin, the Vice President’s Chief of Staff.

During the meeting, Al Sheikh affirmed his appreciation for Japan’s positions and its continued support for the Palestinian people, as well as for its contributions in the humanitarian and development fields, particularly given the exceptional circumstances facing our people. He also reviewed the latest political developments at the local and international levels, pointing to the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, the escalation of occupation forces’ violations and settler attacks in the West Bank, and the continued withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues by Israel, alongside its serious repercussions that affect the financial and economic situations and the Palestinian government’s ability to meet its basic obligations.

For his part, H.E. Mr. Takeshi Okubo, Special Assistant to the Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, affirmed his country’s continued supportive stance toward the Palestinian cause and its keenness to continue providing support to the Palestinian people in ways that strengthen their resilience and improve the humanitarian, economic, and social conditions. He renewed his country’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at achieving stability and backing endeavors to rebuild the Gaza Strip and improve the living conditions of Palestinians.
