AlSheikh recieved the Ambassador of the brotherly Republic of Tunisia to Palestine

This morning I discussed the latest developments and political developments on the Palestinian issue with His Excellency the Ambassador of the brotherly Republic of Tunisia to Palestine Habib bin Farah.

I expressed to him our appreciation for the brotherly relations between the Palestinian and Tunisian peoples, thanking them for their continued support for the Palestinian cause.




Al Sheikh received the US envoy Mr. Hady Amr

Today, I received in my office the US envoy, Mr. Hady Amr, where we discussed many bilateral issues, and stressed that the absence of a political horizon and Israel’s continuation of its unilateral measures are killing the possibility of a two-state solution.

And we discussed some topics that pave the way for the meeting of the US Assistant Secretary of State in the coming days, including the reopening of the US consulate in East Jerusalem, and our disapproval of the fact that the PLO is still on the lists of terrorism in USA law from Congress.

We talked about the challenges that the Palestinians face due to the occupation and the historical injustice that we face, as a result of the lack of implementation of international legitimacy and of double standards.




Al Sheikh received the family of the martyr Shireen Abu Akleh

Today, I have received the family of the martyr Shireen Abu Akleh, we discussed the procedures to be followed locally, regionally and internationally in the case of her assassination.

As well as having a joint action and coordination of effort with all relevant authorities to prosecute the killers and bring them to justice.




Al-Sheikh met Singapore’s representative to the PA

I have received in my office today, Singapore’s representative to the PA, H.E. Mr Hawazi Bin Daipi.

It was a positive and fruitful meeting, I commended the relations between our two countries, and thanked our friends for their continuous support to the PA and for their efforts in the capacity building through their Enhanced Technical Assistance Programme (ETAP), and wished them further developement, progress and prosperity.

We discussed the situation on the field and the developments internally, regionally, and internationally.

Mr Daipi expressed their intention of establishing a Singapore Representative Office in Ramallah, and commended the strong ties between Palestine and Singapore, and expressed his concern regarding the violation of the status quo in AlHaram AlSharif.

Finally, we agreed upon further development and closer collaboration.




AlSheikh met the Irish Representative in Palestine

I met HE the Irish Representative, Mr. Don Sexton, in my office this Wednesday.

Mr. Sexton conveyed his condolences, representing the Irish Republic, to the killing of 62 Palestinians since the beginning of this year, and he offered his condolences for the killing of the martyr journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.

We discussed several issues, beginning with the financial crisis in Palestine in light of the global economic crisis, specifically in light of the cessation of financial support to the Palestinian Authority, and the occupation’s withholding of our taxes collected.

We also discussed with His Excellency the necessity of stopping unilateral measures that impede the two-state solution, the sensitivity of the situation in light of the absence of a political horizon, the escalation of settlers and the breach of the historic status quo at AlHaram AlSharif.

I also commended the Irish position in support of the two-state solution, and in support of development projects.

HE the Irish representative affirmed his country’s efforts to advance a political path based on the two-state solution.




PLO Secretary-General: President Abbas is in good health and working as usual

Hussein Al-Sheikh, the Secretary-General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), dismissed today false reports regarding the health condition of President Mahmoud Abbas.

“Reports circulated by the yellow press regarding the health condition of Mr. President Mahmoud Abbas are false,” said Al-Sheikh in a tweet.

Al-Sheikh described these reports “are aimed at destabilizing the internal Palestinian situation,” adding that the President was “in good condition and doing his work as usual.”




President Abbas names Hussein Al-Sheikh Secretary-General of PLO

President Mahmoud Abbas today named Hussein Al-Sheikh secretary-general of the Palestine Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee.

Al-Sheikh has served as the Minister of Civil Affairs and member of Fatah Central Committee.

The position was previously held by Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, and had remained vacant since his death of COVID-19 in November 2020.




Al-Sheikh meets with the Russian Foreign Minister and his deputy

The Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Minister Hussein al-Sheikh, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his deputy, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov.

During the talks, which took place today, Tuesday, in the Russian capital, Moscow, the two parties exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, with a focus on the prospects for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement.

They also raised prospects of restoring Palestinian national unity in accordance with the political program of the PLO, as well as possible bilateral issues to further strengthen Russian-Palestinian relations.

FM Lavrov stressed Russia’s firm readiness to continue supporting the efforts of the Palestinian leadership to implement the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, and to live in peace and security alongside Israel.

The Russian Foreign Minister also expressed his sincere condolences over the tragic death of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, and expressed support of PLO leadership’s request to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation into her murder. The Russian Foreign Ministry had earlier conducted in-depth consultations between Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia and Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov.




PLO and Fatah official: Israeli PM’s instructions to his army to operate without restrictions is a call for murder

Member of the PLO’s Executive Committee, Hussein AlSheikh, stressed that the instructions of the Israeli Prime minister, Naftali Bennett, to his army to operate without restrictions and to be unleashed in the West Bank are a call for murder and abuse.

“We call on the international community with all its institutions to deter this disorder and place pressure to stop it,” he said in a tweet.




PLO and Fatah official Hussein al-Sheikh discusses several files with US envoy

Hussein al-Sheikh, member of the PLO’s Executive Committee and Fatah’s Central Committee, discussed today during a meeting in Ramallah with US envoy Hady Amr several files, including bilateral relations and issues related to the situation with Israel as well as regional and international issues.

The PLO official discussed the credibility of the international community, which he stressed is at stake, adding that “international legitimacy should not be divided and double standards shouldn’t be applied to the implementation of UN resolutions.”

“It is time for those decisions to be implemented and the Israeli occupation to leave our land,” said al-Sheikh in a tweet.
