Al-Sheikh: What is happening in Sheikh Jarrah is displacement forced by the occupation

Hussein al-Sheikh, member of the PLO’s Executive Committee and Fatah’s Central Committee and head of the General Authority of Civil Affairs in the Palestinian Authority said that what is happening in Sheikh_Jarrah is displacement forced by the occupation and a forced emptying of Jerusalem’s original inhabitants and owners of its homes and land.

“The Palestinian leadership is conducting intensive contacts with all countries of the world to place pressure on #Israel to stop all its repressive measures against the residents and citizens of East Jerusalem,” he said in a tweet.




Al-Sheikh: We call on the international community to provide protection to our people

AlSheikh announces updates on the Family Unification in the Northern Governorates

Minister Al-Sheikh said in a press statement today, Wednesday, regarding the latest developments in the Identity and Address files, that in the “follow-up to what we announced on 30/8/2021 regarding the understandings agreed upon between us and the Israeli side, according to which these files were reworked, the status of 10,000 Palestinian citizens will be settled, including approvals for new identity cards and address change. In accordance with these agreements, we announce today the receipt of a new batch of identity approvals for those who have entered Palestine and failed to obtain a Palestinian identity, as we obtained 1,000 approvals for applicants from the Northern Governorates to obtain a Palestinian identity card and passport.

He added, “Once again, I confirm, as promised, that we are continuing our permanent follow-up in order to achieve, and in the next few days, the rest of the names that were sent in the statements to the Israeli side, which include identities and change of address from all governorates of the country.” Minister AlSheikh also added: “Based on this, it was announced that the General Authority of Civil Affairs in all its directorates in the Southern and Northern Governorates will be open as of today, Wednesday 12/1/2022 to deliver approval letters for the category announced above, and move forward to the Ministry of Interior to complete the procedures for issuing the Palestinian identity card and passport.




AlSheikh: We are conducting extensive communications concerning the grave health condition of the prisoner Abu Hamid

Minister Hussein AlSheikh, Fatah Central Committee Member and Head of the General Authority of Civil Affairs, confirmed that extensive communications are being conducted with the Israeli government about the serious health condition of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid.

AlSheikh tweeted “we are conducting extensive communications with the Israeli government regarding the serious health condition of the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who is seriously ill and suffering, calling for his immediate release to receive the necessary treatment and save his life.”

Yesterday, Tuesday, prisoner Abu Hamid, 49, was suddenly transferred to the Israeli hospital “Barzilai,” according to the Commission of Detainees Affairs.

It is worth noting that the prisoner is still recovering from a surgical operation he underwent last October to remove a cancerous tumor on the lung.

PA official: President Abbas and Gantz’s meeting discussed political issues

President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz met last night and discussed political issues, according to Hussein al-Sheikh, head of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Commission and member of the Central Committee of the ruling Fatah Movement.

He said in a tweet that the meeting focused on creating a political horizon that leads to a political solution as well as the tense situation on the field due to Israeli settlers’ practices.

“President Abbas met with Minister Gantz, where they discussed the importance of creating a political horizon that leads to a political solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions as well as the tense situation on the field because of the practices of settlers, and the meeting dealt with many security, economic and humanitarian issues,” he said.




Ministers AlSheikh and Shoukry and Safadi discuss the latest developments to the Palestinian cause

Fatah Central Committee Member and Head of the General Authority of Civil Affairs, Minister Hussein AlSheikh, met with the Egyptian and Jordanian Foreign Ministers, H.E. Minister Sameh Shoukry and H.E. Minister Ayman Safadi respectively, yesterday Monday, and discussed the latest developments on the Palestinian arena, during a consultative meeting held in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Also present were the Heads of the Palestinian, Egyptian and Jordanian General Intelligence Services, Mr. Majid Faraj, Major General Abbas Kamel, and Major General Ahmed Hosni, respectively.

During the tripartite meeting, which comes within the framework of the ongoing coordination between Palestine, Egypt and Jordan, Minister AlSheikh emphasized the Israeli escalation and violations that are practiced daily against the Palestinian people, especially in Jerusalem, as well as the settler crimes committed under the protection of the army of the Occupation in the towns and villages of Nablus, especially in Burqa, Bazaria, Sebastia, Beta and Sila ad Dhahr. AlSheikh stressed that the escalation of organized terrorist operations practiced by settlers, with the support and protection of the Israeli government, came as a result of an official decision targeting the defenseless Palestinian people in order to undermine the pillars of security and stability in the region, considering this escalation as a deliberate Israeli disregard for the decisions taken by the international community.

The tripartite meeting discussed the latest political developments on the Palestinian cause, reiterating the support and need to provide international protection to the Palestinian people. Finally, prominent regional and international developments were discussed, in addition to ways of enhancing the frameworks of joint Arab cooperation, in a manner that aligns with the interests of the three countries and their peoples.

The meeting issued the following final statement:
In the context of keenness to strengthen the strategic relations that bring together the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the State of Palestine, and based on the desire of those countries to intensify the level of continuous coordination between them to unify efforts regarding developments and challenges facing the Palestinian cause, and in implementation of the decisions of the tripartite summit held in Cairo on 2 September 2021.

On Monday, December 27, 2021, Cairo hosted a meeting attended by the Foreign Ministers and Heads of the Intelligence Services of Egypt and Jordan, the Minister of Civil Affairs and the Head of the Intelligence Service of Palestine, to coordinate positions and visions on how to follow up on the outcomes of the tripartite summit that was held in Cairo on September 2, 2021, and discuss the developments in the Palestinian cause in the recent period.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance relations and developments related to the peace process, efforts to consolidate Palestinian unity, and assess the field conditions in the State of Palestine in light of the continuation of illegal measures that negate the chances of achieving a just peace in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem, and the consolidation of a comprehensive truce and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip, and finding a political horizon to achieve a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution that embodies the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with occupied East Jerusalem as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines, in accordance with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative. In this context, a number of proposals aimed at breaking the stalemate in the peace process at the present time were examined.

The Ministers also discussed the communications made by the three countries at the regional and international levels, and discussed ways to activate international frameworks related to the situation in the Palestinian territories and the path of a peaceful settlement.




Al-Sheikh: We demand the international community for immediate protection of the Palestinian people

Minister Hussein Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Palestinian Civil Affairs Commission and Member of the Central Committee of Fatah Movement, wrote via Twitter on Sunday: “We demand the international community to provide immediate protection for the Palestinian people, who are being killed and are having their homes and lands burned by organized racist gangs. In the face of the settlers’ attacks and their organized terrorism under the protection of the occupation army against our people in Palestinian cities, villages and camps, and our people’s heroic response to this terrorism”




AlSheikh meets with the Canadian Representative Wettlaufer

Fatah Central Committee Member and Head of the General Authority of Civil Affairs, Minister Hussein AlSheikh, discussed the latest political developments related to the Palestinian issue and the region with the Canadian Representative to the State of Palestine, Ms. Robin Wettlaufer. Also present at the meeting which took place at the Minister’s Office in Ramallah was the Head of the Political Department at the Representative Office, Mr. Jamie Penell.
The Minister expressed thanks to Canada for their support of the Palestinian people and government through its institutions, and its financial support to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), as well as in the fight against the Corona virus pandemic.
