Al-Sheikh meets with the Russian Foreign Minister and his deputy

The Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestinian Liberation Organization, Minister Hussein al-Sheikh, met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his deputy, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov.

During the talks, which took place today, Tuesday, in the Russian capital, Moscow, the two parties exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East, with a focus on the prospects for a Palestinian-Israeli settlement.

They also raised prospects of restoring Palestinian national unity in accordance with the political program of the PLO, as well as possible bilateral issues to further strengthen Russian-Palestinian relations.

FM Lavrov stressed Russia’s firm readiness to continue supporting the efforts of the Palestinian leadership to implement the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, and to live in peace and security alongside Israel.

The Russian Foreign Minister also expressed his sincere condolences over the tragic death of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Aqleh, and expressed support of PLO leadership’s request to conduct a comprehensive and objective investigation into her murder. The Russian Foreign Ministry had earlier conducted in-depth consultations between Mr. Hussein Al-Sheikh and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia and Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov.




PLO and Fatah official: Israeli PM’s instructions to his army to operate without restrictions is a call for murder

Member of the PLO’s Executive Committee, Hussein AlSheikh, stressed that the instructions of the Israeli Prime minister, Naftali Bennett, to his army to operate without restrictions and to be unleashed in the West Bank are a call for murder and abuse.

“We call on the international community with all its institutions to deter this disorder and place pressure to stop it,” he said in a tweet.




PLO and Fatah official Hussein al-Sheikh discusses several files with US envoy

Hussein al-Sheikh, member of the PLO’s Executive Committee and Fatah’s Central Committee, discussed today during a meeting in Ramallah with US envoy Hady Amr several files, including bilateral relations and issues related to the situation with Israel as well as regional and international issues.

The PLO official discussed the credibility of the international community, which he stressed is at stake, adding that “international legitimacy should not be divided and double standards shouldn’t be applied to the implementation of UN resolutions.”

“It is time for those decisions to be implemented and the Israeli occupation to leave our land,” said al-Sheikh in a tweet.




AlSheikh condemns the targeting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its oil facilities

The PLO Executive Committee member, Hussein AlSheikh, condemned the targeting of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its oil facilities.

AlSheikh tweeted: “We affirm our solidarity with the Kingdom, its people and its leadership, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Mohammed bin Salman.”




AlSheikh meets with the G7+ Representatives

The PLO Executive Committee member, Hussein AlSheikh, met on Thursday with the representatives of the Group of Seven and Norway.

AlSheikh added that the meeting focused on the latest international developments.




PLO and Fatah official Hussein al-Sheikh meets Israeli Foreign Minister

Member of the PLO’s Executive Committee and Fatah’s Central Committee and head of the General Authority of Civil Affairs in the Palestinian Authority, Hussein al-Sheikh, reconfirmed during a meeting tonight with Israeli Foreign Minister, Yair Lapid, the necessity of having a political horizon based on signed agreements and the resolutions of international legitimacy.

The Palestinian official affirmed during the meeting the importance of stopping unilateral measures that obstruct the two-state solution.

“We have also discussed the regional and international situation,” he said in a tweet.




AlSheikh meets with the Romanian Representative, H.E. Mr. Catalin Tirlea

Today, Monday, the PLO Executive Committee member, Hussein AlSheikh, met and discussed the latest political developments on the Palestinian issue and the region with the Romanian ambassador to Palestine, H.E. Mr. Catalin Tirlea.

During the meeting, AlSheikh stressed the importance of the historical relations between the two countries, thanking Romania for receiving the Palestinian community on the Romanian borders in light of the current Russian-Ukrainian crisis.

In turn, Ambassador Tirlea affirmed his country’s firm support towards the political process, the two-state solution, and the need to pull all possible efforts to support and achieve peace in the region.




AlSheikh meets with the British Consul General

On Thursday morning, the PLO Executive Committee member, Hussein AlSheikh, met with the British Consul General in Jerusalem, Ms. Diane Corner, to discuss the latest political developments on the Palestinian arena and the region, in his office in Ramallah.

Mr. AlSheikh briefed the Consul General on the Israeli violations, especially house demolitions and forced displacement in the city of Jerusalem, and especially the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.

In turn, Ms. Corner affirmed Britain’s firm support of the Palestinian people and their institutions and the need to pull all possible efforts to advance bilateral relations.




AlSheikh discusses the latest political developments with the Irish Representative

This morning, Tuesday, the PLO Executive Committee member, Mr. Hussein AlSheikh, received in his office in Ramallah the Irish Representative, H.E. Mr. Don Sexton and his Deputy, Ms. Aoife Lyons. The meeting raised the latest political developments on the Palestinian arena and the region.

Mr. AlSheikh praised the strength of the Palestinian-Irish ties, and Ireland’s firm support for the Palestinian people in international forums, as well as their financial support of the Palestinian people through UNRWA and various development projects.

In turn, Mr. Sexton reaffirmed his country’s firm and supportive stance for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, and the establishment of an independent State of Palestine in accordance with the two-state solution and the resolutions of international legitimacy.




Al-Sheikh receives an expanded delegation from Jerusalem

The PLO Executive Committee member, Hussein Al-Sheikh, received an expanded delegation from the Jerusalem governorate, which included various institutions of the city of Jerusalem and the Fatah movement in the capital.

Al-Sheikhwelcomed them saying: “I smell in you this beautiful smell of the walls of Jerusalem, in which every stone talks about the history and legacy of our great people, and there is no force in this world that can erase or change this history.”

He also briefed the delegation on the latest political developments, and heard their briefing on the struggle on the ground with the ongoing Israeli escalation targeting the city of Jerusalem, especially in the areas like the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, Jabal al-Mukabber, and Silwan.
