I met HE the Irish Representative, Mr. Don Sexton, in my office this Wednesday.
Mr. Sexton conveyed his condolences, representing the Irish Republic, to the killing of 62 Palestinians since the beginning of this year, and he offered his condolences for the killing of the martyr journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
We discussed several issues, beginning with the financial crisis in Palestine in light of the global economic crisis, specifically in light of the cessation of financial support to the Palestinian Authority, and the occupation’s withholding of our taxes collected.
We also discussed with His Excellency the necessity of stopping unilateral measures that impede the two-state solution, the sensitivity of the situation in light of the absence of a political horizon, the escalation of settlers and the breach of the historic status quo at AlHaram AlSharif.
I also commended the Irish position in support of the two-state solution, and in support of development projects.
HE the Irish representative affirmed his country’s efforts to advance a political path based on the two-state solution.
