Al-Sheikh received a high-level delegation from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs

This evening, I received in my office a high-level delegation from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by the Director of the Department of the United Nations, International Organizations, Human Rights and Francophonie in the, Mr. Fabien Penone.

I gave the guests a brief on the latest political developments regarding the Palestinian cause at all regional and global levels, the Israeli attacks and the terror of settlers, especially in the city of Jerusalem, and what the world witnessed of the brutal attack on the funeral of Shireen Abu Aqleh inside the French hospital in Jerusalem, and the arrest by Israel of the Jerusalem lawyer who holds the french citizenship Salah Hammouri and refused to release him.

I highlighted the need to stop all unilateral measures that would impede the two state solution, as well as the need for a political horizon to end the occupation.

We discussed the financial crisis in Palestine, especially the global economic crisis, in light of the cessation of financial support to the PA and the occupation’s withholding of tax funds due.

And expressed our high appreciation of the bilateral relations between Palestine and France, the joint work, the permanent communication, and the development of relations between the two countries in several fields.

In his turn, Mr. Penone affirmed his country’s support in achieving peace in accordance to the two state solution as the only solution and the only guarantee to security and peace in the region.
