Today I received the Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan, Mr. Yamada Shigeo and the representative of Japan in Palestine, Mr. Nakashima Yoichi.
I briefed them on the latest political developments in the Palestinian arena, stressing appreciation for the Japanese support in all sectors, political, economic and in development.
Their chairmanship of the G7 Group and the United Nations Security Council was welcomed, and I stressed the need to pressure the Israeli government to stop all unilateral measures.
I also expressed our gratitude for Japan’s efforts in supporting the peace process.
In their turn, they stressed the continuous support for the establishment of a prosperous, independent and sovereign Palestinian state, and affirmed their support for the negotiating path to reach the two-state solution on the basis of international legitimacy.
